Center for excellence scheme of University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi targets the colleges with potential for excellence under section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC act. UGC had funded 97 colleges under this scheme during 2004-05, 47 in the first phase and 2006-07, 50 in the second phase under UGC plan X.
Govt. Shakambhar PG college, Sambhar Lake had been proudly selected in the phase-I itself, for the “Center for Excellence scheme”. The scheme remains operational during XI plan period also. The college has received 60% grant under non-recurring and 40% grant for recurring. The financial assistance is provided for upgradation, updating of the departments for further development towards excellence and general facilities in the college.
During the year 2008-09 the college required the grant of the two lakh eight thousand out of which intercom facility within the college premises, interlibrary loan facility- DELNE, library computer purchasing, website development, formation of Alumni association, student advisory bureau, have been started. Extension lectures and certificate meritorious students were also provided.
During the year 2009-10, the college reserved the grant of 2.20 lakhs out of which updation of website, DELNET, alumni association, ICT computer training for teaching and non-teaching staff, on faculty development program, handy-cam purchasing and landscape planning had been done.
For the year 2010-11, apart from updatation of the above mentioned facilities, water purifier for students, infrastructure and staff room development for teachers, anti-ragging campaign etc. are being facilitated in the college. |
